HaoChih was a Senior ML Engineer at Xpeng Robotics, applying RL on legged robot locomotion and sim-to-real challenges.

Prior to Xpeng Robotics, HaoChih was one of the earliest members at Sony AI, working on Gran Turismo Sophy™ AI racing project.

He obtained his master's degree in ETH Zurich majoring in Robotics, Systems and Control in 2020 with an exceptional result on his master's thesis (score 6.0/6.0). In addition, he was the ranked one BSc student who graduated from NCKU in aerospace engineering in 2015.

During the master studies, HaoChih had an opportunity to participate in the development of the Noesis framework, which is the C++/Tensorflow based reinforcement learning framework for real robot training and deployment. Noesis was initially designed for ANYmal (a quad legged robot dog) locomotion learning by ETHZ-RSL.

Before the master's thesis, HaoChih finished the research internship at Baidu USA, worked on imitation learning using NeuralODE for robot locomotion. After that, he started his master's thesis at UZH-RPG with the topic of Curriculum Reinforcement Learning for Overtaking in PS4-GTS (a multi-car racing game), collaborated with SonyAI Zurich.

Eariler than the master studies, HaoChih was a robotics technical consultant in ADLINK, the second biggest industry computer manufacture in Taiwan. He was in charge of prototyping the system architecture for integrating ROS2/DDS middleware with existing ADLINK products.

In the meantime, HaoChih founded the HyphaROS workshop in 2017, which is the most famous ROS based services provider in Taiwan. HyphaROS organized several ROS training workshops (from beginner to expert levels), and hold the first ROS.Taiwan developer meetup in 2018.
